Tesco policy change

dottedline Tesco policy change

From 15th June 2010 Tesco changed the way it handles coupons. Whilst deductions for redeemed coupons using point of sale data will continue to be made from suppliers’ trading accounts the physical coupons will be destroyed after Tesco’s scan at till. As such, physical coupons will no longer be passed to Valassis for third-party verification. However, Tesco has agreed to send Valassis its redemption data for all third party coupons which we will be making available shortly to coupon issuers.

This data provision from Tesco to Valassis has only very recently been agreed, and with Tesco we are working through what data will be made available and how it will be transferred to Valassis and on to coupon issuers. As you can imagine the volume of data is considerable and presents some technical challenges. Obviously, we want to ensure that any data supplied is robust and dependable. To that end we ask that you bear with us as we work through the details of how best to provide it to the market.

We are intending to offer a range of value-added reporting, analysis and query management services for which there will be a service fee. For those who wish to opt out of this service, we are aiming to provide a free base level redemption extract from the Tesco data.

We expect to be able to provide more details surrounding this data in the next few weeks. We realise that there will be a brief hiatus in the provision of this crucial data but we are working hard to have this up and running as soon as possible.

If you have any further questions at this time please call Valassis 01536 400123 or contact your account manager directly.
